Rename Expert offers you an attractive and well-organized interface to batch-rename your files and folders in an easy, efficient and safe way. It comes with an interesting list of templates that cover the most common rename tasks, but you can always create new templates with your own rename settings and add them to the list for future use.

Rename Expert has been designed to give you the highest level of flexibility possible – it offers you all the tools and features that you will ever need to change filenames, folders and subfolders names, and even extensions in a clever and logical way. It can even create new folders automatically using data already existing in your files. Thus, this versatile application can use the metadata embedded in certain types of files (images, audio files, etc.) to help you sort your multimedia collection. It can read and use ID3 tags (for audio files) and the EXIF and IPTC metadata stored in many image files.

Rename Expert can change the name of your files and folders by any string of characters you can think of, number them, shorten all the filenames longer than 260 characters automatically, generate new extensions by identifying the contents of the files (usually text-based files, such as HTML, XML, or log files), and even give your files a new name using the data stored in an external CSV file.

As you can see, the possibilities offered by this tool are endless, and by adding your own skills and ideas to them, this can become an extremely powerful utility. This big power, however, requires some control. Every change you intend to apply to your files and folders is first displayed in real time in the program’s main interface, so that you can clearly see which and how many files will be affected by it and make all the changes you consider necessary beforehand.
